Hanonmar
Located north of Sammaebong in the Seohong-dong and Hogeun-dong areas of Seogwipo, Hanonmar is an elliptical volcanic formation stretching approximately 1.8 km east to west and 1.3 km north to south. Standing at an altitude of 143.4 m with a height of 88 m, its distinct circular crater makes it renowned as the only Maar-type crater on the Korean Peninsula. In a rare departure from typical volcanic terrain, Hanonmar features fertile land suitable for paddy rice cultivation. The golden rice fields in autumn offer a breathtaking sight, while the area also serves as a precious ecological time capsule, preserving vital climate change data spanning 50,000 years.
